We firmly believe that a committed community, student, school should never be turned away due to lack of funds.
Access For All
Your donation helps make this value our practice by providing sliding scale scholarships for Project ROOTS. Your gift allows us to collaborate with classrooms and communities regardless of their budget. Because, seriously: if we're talking about building a path to a more equitable and just society, we can't let price of admission exclude people.
i attended this program in 2017 and i’ll always have a space in my heart for the week i got to have with the ppl in ROOTS. i was a sophomore in a sheltered, private high school & ROOTS threw me into some of the first, rly honest, personal and deep conversations i ever got to have around things like race, gender, privilege, power, and solidarity. it was emotionally really heavy at times, but i also remember so many beautiful lighthearted moments, singing, dancing, playing.
it was also the first majority QTPOC community i’d ever been in, and i can’t describe to u how meaningful it was to be surrounded by such a diverse & interesting collection of ppl (counselors and campers alike) for who unconditional acceptance, curiosity, and respect was the norm. i remember being very shy. i felt like i could barely open up until the week was nearly over, but when i did i was met with gentle love and pride. and i’ll never not be grateful for that!!!!
if you have funds to spare, consider to this program! i think it really helped me—in learning how to accept & love myself, in giving me a picture of how joyful & incredible being in a community could be!
